Hello golfers,

In this week’s email, we offer advice on how to conquer one of the most destructive shots in golf, we highlight some products that would be perfect for your game, and we also take a look at all the latest from the club this week. Enjoy the read.

Playing host

Last week saw the Dorset Wiltshire PGA pro’s come to The Ashley Wood, 26 Professionals played and a fantastic score of 4 under by Greg Davies saw him claim the win in testing weather conditions. Paul finished 6th with a mixed bag round of 72 including a 4 putt on the 4th hole. Jon battled hard in the tricky conditions but a lost ball down the right of 17 cost him the chance of breaking into the top 10. Our next event will be at Salisbury South Wilts in February.

Continuing into 2018

This weekend sees the rearranged New Year’s Texas scramble on Saturday, 27 January which is a shotgun start at 9am, please see the sheet in the club lobby or see the club website for your starting hole.

Clubhouse 1896 are continuing the club theme nights this year, due to the popularity of these events new dates have been put in on Fridays, please see behind the bar for details. Also a new 2018 menu.

Round up

On Saturday a pairs combined Stableford was played and the winning score was 71 points on countback by Nick Sellick and Simon Dickinson. A fantastic score considering the conditions, Sunday’s stroke play competition was cancelled due poor weather conditions.

This weekend will see the Captain's New Year Texas scramble rearranged on Saturday and Development Stableford on Sunday.

A fantastic achievement!

Congratulations to last year’s Club Captain Clive Jones. His captaincy year raised over £11,000 for Prostate Cancer UK and he will be handing over the cheque after the New Year scramble presentation.

CJ's winter eclectic final is on Good Friday, the sign up list is on the board in the club if you wish to play tick your name off. The club matches for this year have been put on the boards as well, so if you wish to play put your name down. First match is against Burley GC on Sunday, 11 March.
